Wheaton House Fire Displaces Residents, Causes $300K In Damage

WHEATON, IL — A household was displaced by a residential fire Sunday in Wheaton, according to authorities.
Firefighters responded around 11:30 a.m. to a house fire in the 600 block of Woodlawn Street and brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes, authorities said.
No one was hurt but there was heavy damage to the house, and the fire extended to two vehicles in the driveway and a second nearby home, according to authorities, who said damage estimates exceeded $300,000. The blaze was an accident and started on a porch, authorities said.

Woodlawn Street was closed by police as of shortly before noon between Roosevelt Road and Lakeside Drive while emergency personnel responded to the fire, but the street had reopened by 2:15 p.m.
