Taxpayers Footing the Bill for Fine Dining at College of DuPage

College of DuPage officials, who were already under fire for a $762,000 buyout package, business dealings at the college radio station and a move to censure a board member are now facing a new accusation - eating and drinking at the campus’ fine dining restaurant on the taxpayers’ dime.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that more than 500 times College of DuPage officials ate at Waterleaf to the tune of $190,000.

Add to that, the Tribune says, the fact that the fine dining restaurant - which is located on campus “has lost nearly $2 million since it opened, and is budgeted to lose more than $500,000 this fiscal year,” the Tribune reports they found in financial records obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.

The College of DuPage board of trustees next meets on March 19.
