WOODRIDGE, IL — A group of students recently graduated from the junior chef program at West Suburban Community Pantry. The five-week class helped kids between the ages of eight and 13 learn about cooking, sustainability, budgeting and more.

During each class, students were given ingredients to duplicate their recipes at home Upon graduation, they were given a cookbook with the five weeks of recipes in it.

“I am very grateful for the success of this session and delighted that our Junior Chefs are already looking forward to next year! We could not have offered this opportunity without Lisa Mills and team from U of I,” Nancy Chatterjee, Support Services Coordinator at West Suburban Community Pantry said. “Together we have helped young people understand the value of eating healthy snacks and meals and increased their access to affordable and nutritious foods they can help prepare themselves."
