Autumn Creek School Evacuated After Gas Main Hit
No injuries reported in Tuesday afternoon incident.

A Yorkville Patch reader on Facebook reports that Prairie Grass is still blocked off, but police are allowing local residents through.

Autumn Creek Elementary School was evacuated at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday after a construction crew working in the area hit and ruptured a gas main.
Yorkville Deputy Police Chief Larry Hilt said the main was hit in the area of Autumn Creek and Prairie Grass. A handful of teachers working in the school were evacuated as was a home construction crew that was working in the area.

Nicor responded to the scene and shut off gas a short time later, Hilt said.
Roads around the scene were closed off for a period, and as of about 3:20 p.m., Hilt said it could be a couple of hours before the main is repaired.
No one was injured in the incident, Hilt said.
