Burglars Smash Windows, Steal Cash From Yorkville Businesses
Yorkville police are investigating at least five overnight burglaries at area businesses.
YORKVILLE, IL — Burglars using landscape bricks and unknown objects smashed or damaged glass doors and windows at multiple Yorkville businesses during the early morning hours Tuesday, police said.
Early Tuesday afternoon, Yorkville police released a timeline of the burglaries, which began with alarms going off at businesses just after 2 a.m.
At 2:07 a.m., police responded to a business in the 500 block of East Veterans Parkway, where unknown subjects had thrown an unknown object at the glass entry/exit door. The glass was scratched but did not break, according to a police report.

Later, an alarm going off at 2:33 a.m. draw police to a business in the 1400 block of Cannonball Trail, where police found a glass front door that appeared to be smashed in with a landscaping brick. A cash register was stolen.
At 2:35 a.m., officers checking on neighboring businesses on Cannonball Trail found another glass door smashed with a landscaping brick and another cash register stolen.

At 3:10 a.m., officers checking various businesses in the 1200 block of North Bridge Street due to burglar alarms going off found another front door smashed with a landscaping brick. Various items were broken or stolen, including a cash register, according to a police report.
At 3:18 a.m., Yorkville officers responded to a burglar alarm with glass break activation at a business in the 1900 block of Marketview Drive to find the glass front door and window broken. After the arrival of a key holder, police learned that several cellphones, tablets and watches were taken and several items were damaged.
Police said there are currently no known suspects, and the incidents are under investigation.
