Father, Husband of Dead Kendall Pantry Director Indicted for Theft

The men from Yorkville face up to seven years in prison if convicted

Kenneth Spaeth, 55, and father-in-law William Crowley, 76, were indicted by a grand jury on Friday, according to the Daily Herald. Both Yorkville men are charged with stealing more than $10,000 from the Kendall County Food Pantry between 2013 and 2016.

Spaeth was the treasurer of the pantry, and his late wife, Maria Spaeth, was the director until last May. They resigned in June when Yorkville Police started an investigation into a report of $200,000 missing from the pantry.

In June, she died from a combination of sedatives and painkillers.

Bail was set at $25,000 for Spaeth and Crowley. Spaeth posted bond on Tuesday, but no information on Crowley was available.

The home listed as the address for the men on Emily Court in Yorkville was empty with a 'for sale' sign outside, according to the Daily Herald.
