Funeral Set For Deputy Killed In Crash, Driver Cited
Visitation and funeral services for Christina Musil, 35, are Thursday at Northern Illinois University.

DEKALB, IL — Visitation and funeral services for DeKalb County Deputy Christina Musil, 35, are slated for Thursday at the Northern Illinois Convocation Center, the sheriff's department announced.
Musil, a mother of three and Army National Guard veteran, was killed Thursday when a semi slammed into the back of her squad car after running off the road on Route 23 near Waterman.
Public visitation is set for 10 a.m. to noon at the NIU Convocation Center, 1525 W. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb. The public can park in lot C2 and use entrance 2, the sheriff's office said.

A law enforcement walk-through will happen at 12:45 p.m. Staging for the walk-through beings at 11:30 a.m. at the convocation center. All law enforcement that wish to participate are asked to park in lot C3 and enter through entrance 5.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 1:30 p.m.

A procession to transfer Musil's body to Butala's funeral home will start at 3 p.m. "We are attaching the route and asking any members of the public who wish to show support and to honor Deputy Musil that you line up on the highlighted portion of the route," the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.
Known by her loved ones as "Beana," a GoFundMe created to support her children — ages 12, 11 and 5 — described Musil as "an incredible soul" and "a loving mother."
"Beana’s life, although only a short 35 years, was a testament to service, love, and laughter," organizers wrote. "She served her country with honor, protected her community with dedication, and most importantly, she raised her children with boundless love. As we come together to mourn and remember Beana, we also rally to support her most precious legacy — her children."
Another GoFundMe for the family added, "The reach of this tragedy has touched nation wide through military families and friends, as well as the DeKalb County Sheriffs Department."
Semi Driver Cited
Illinois State Police said a 44-year-old DeKalb man was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane use and operating an uninsured vehicle in the fatal crash.
State police said the Kenworth truck rear-ended Musil's squad vehicle, which was parked on the right shoulder of southbound Route 23.
