Jury Finds Plano Man Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting 2 Child Family Members: Weis
The children were as young as 5 years old when the man sexually assaulted them, according to prosecutors.

PLANO, IL — After a four-day trial, a jury found a Plano man, 54, guilty of sexually assaulting two children starting as early as when they were 5 years old, Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis said Friday.
Luis Gonzales, of the 500 block of Hemmingsen Street, was convicted of five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child last week and taken into custody to await sentencing Aug. 18. Gonzales had been out on bond since his arrest.
An investigation into sexual assault allegations against Gonzalez began in October 2019 when two victims disclosed to family, then to investigators, that Gonzalez committed "multiple horrific sexual acts" while in the Plano residence where they stayed during summer visits, according to a news release.

The children each completed a victim-sensitive interview at the Tazewell County Child Advocacy Center and one at the Kendall County Child Advocacy Center. Per Illinois law, the two interviews by the youngest victim were played as evidence during the trial. Both children also took the stand to testify against Gonzales.
A second trial involving one of the victims will be scheduled after the sentencing hearing, Weis said.
