Kendall Co. Master Gardeners Share Knowledge at Seed Swap: Photos

YORKVILLE, IL — The Kendall County Master Gardeners hosted a free community seed swap on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the University of Illinois extension office in Yorkville. Check out some photos of the annual event.

Kendall County Master Gardener Pat Hambly helps Paul Escondon of Aurora with a gardening question during the free community Seed Swap event on Saturday, Feb. 2 in Yorkville. The event allowed community members to share vegetable and flower seeds to both diversify their home gardens and to help promote native plant species. Some swapped seeds while others collected new seeds to take home. Seeds were donated by Ball Seed, Pizzo & Associates, Plano Community Garden and U of I Extension Master Gardener volunteers.

Gunnar McKinley of Elburn asks the Master Gardener and Master Naturalist volunteers a question about native seeds, like milkweed. During the seed exchange event, Master Gardeners also answered questions and demonstrated a seed-starting system.
