Lightning Strike May Have Caused Yorkville House Fire
Officials said the home is uninhabitable, and the fire caused $300,000 in damage to the home.
YORKVILLE, IL — A Yorkville home is uninhabitable after a likely lightning strike caused an attic fire around 1:50 p.m. Sunday. The Oswego Fire Protection District arrived at a home in the 2800 block of Silver Springs Court to find heavy fire in the attic after the occupants reported a possible lightning strike during Sunday's storms.
It took around 20 minutes to get the fire under control, officials said. No injuries were reported.
According to fire department officials, the blaze caused $300,000 in damage to the home.
