Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Amtrak Train In Sandwich: Police
The fatal crash happened Thursday night in Sandwich.
SANDWICH, IL — A pedestrian died after being hit by an Amtrak train Thursday night in Sandwich, police said.
Sandwich police were called just before 9 p.m. to the crossing near Latham Street and Center Street, where they found a person dead "on or near the railroad tracks," according to a news release. Investigators determined the person was hit by an eastbound passenger train operated by Amtrak.
The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of the family, officials said.

As of Friday, there is no indication of foul play. But the crash remains under investigation by the Amtrak Police and the DeKalb County Coroner's Office.
