Batavia Bank Robbery 'Persons of Interest' Detained: Batavia Cops

The Yorkville Menards parking lot was blocked off so officials could catch the suspects.

YORKVILLE, IL — Authorities from several jurisdictions were involved in a bank robbery that unfolded Tuesday afternoon at Old Second National Bank on Wilson Street in Batavia. According to Batavia police, officers were dispatched to the scene at 2:05 p.m.

Witnesses at the bank gave a description of the suspects' getaway car and the direction it was traveling. Batavia police located the car and began chasing it, but the pursuit ended in Aurora. The suspects were later found and detained in Yorkville.

The vehicle was later located in the parking lot of a Yorkville Menards at 1800 Marketview Drive. Kendall County Sheriff's Office responded with around a dozen vehicles to assist the Yorkville Police Department with blocking off the parking lot around 2:25.

Police also said Batavia High School was put on soft lockdown for a short period of time as a precaution.

Attempts to reach Yorkville Police and the Kendall County Sheriff's Office representatives by phone were not immediately successful.
