Woman Fatally Struck By Amtrak Train IDed As Plano Resident: Coroner

The death is being investigated as a pedestrian-versus-train collision, according to the Kendall County Coroner's Office.

PLANO, IL — A pedestrian was killed Thursday evening after she was struck by a train near Main Street and Clark Street in Plano, police said.

The Kendall County Coroner's Office identified the woman as Mitzi L. Montgomery, a 48-year-old who resided in the 800 block of West South Street in Plano.

Plano officers confirmed the death when they were dispatched at 8:53 p.m. near the BNSF tracks in the 800 block of North Main Street after Amtrack reported that a pedestrian may have been struck, according to a Facebook update from the Plano Police Department.

The coroner's office determined Montgomery's cause of death to be blunt force injuries due to the train-versus-pedestrian collision, the office said in a news release Friday afternoon.

The train tracks reopened at 11:13 p.m. after the investigative team completed its on-site work. BNSF staff, Amtrack investigators, paramedics from the Little Rock-Fox Fire Protection District and the Kendall County Coroner's Office assisted on the scene.
