Yorkville High School Students Walk Out To Protest Mask Mandate
A spokesperson from the school said students would not get in trouble if they participated in the walkout, but were not encouraged to do so.
YORKVILLE, IL — Multiple students at Yorkville High School walked out of class Thursday morning to protest Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker's school mask mandate.
A similar rally was held on Aug. 16 with parents and students to protest the mandate.
The demonstration was allowed by the school, although a spokesperson for the district said it was not encouraged. A letter sent to Yorkville School District 115 parents stated students would not be punished for participating in the walkout and specified which exits they would be allowed to leave from and the timing of the walkout.
