Carmel Man Arrested at Carmel Clay School Board Meeting

Officers immediately took control of the weapon and detained the individual. He was escorted from the venue and questioned about incident.

Carmel, IN - On Monday July 26, 2021, while working at a Carmel Clay School Board Meeting, a Carmel Police Officer witnessed a handgun fall from the pocket of a white male who was in attendance. Officers immediately took control of the weapon and detained the individual. He was escorted from the venue and questioned about the incident.

The suspect in this case has been identified as 69-year-old Robert Lesher of Carmel. Mr. Lesher has been arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. He has been charged with one count of Possession of a Firearm on School Property – Level 6 Felony. As a result of our investigation, Carmel Police do not believe Mr. Lesher posed a threat to anyone attending the school board meeting or otherwise.
