Applicants sought for soon-to-be vacant Carmel school board seat (youarecurrent.com) — Carmel Clay Schools is seeking applicants to fill a soon-to-be vacant District 2 school board seat after vice president Jennifer Nelson-Williams resigns at year’s end. Residents living in central Carmel between 116th and Main, plus areas north of Main and west of Ditch, who are registered Hamilton County voters over 21, can apply by Dec. 31. Finalists will be interviewed publicly on Jan. 14, 2026. 
2. Carmel library evacuated after ‘physical altercation' between juveniles (fox59.com) — Police evacuated the Carmel library on East Main Street Tuesday afternoon after a physical altercation between juveniles inside the building. Officers say there’s no ongoing threat to the public but are asking residents to avoid the area while they investigate what happened and whether anyone was hurt.
3. "They're treated like rock stars": How authentic German culture made Carmel's Christkindmarkt #1 yet again (wrtv.com) — Carmel’s Christkindlmarkt has again been named the top holiday market in the U.S., drawing millions in economic impact and big crowds to the city. German artisans, authentic food, and carefully built international relationships help create the market’s unique atmosphere, and it remains open daily in Carmel through Christmas Eve with details available on the event website.
4. Carmel police launch 'pursuit alert' technology (wthr.com) — Carmel drivers using the Waze app will now get automatic alerts when Carmel police cars are nearby on emergencies, pursuits, or traffic stops, encouraging them to slow down and move over. The new Pursuit Alert system, installed in nearly all patrol cars, aims to reduce crashes and protect both officers and motorists as Indiana sees more incidents involving stopped emergency vehicles.
5. Fannon Announces Addition of Four Signees (cyclones.com) — Carmel High School senior defender Ryan Weber has signed to play Division I soccer at Iowa State, bringing Carmel’s strong prep program into the national spotlight. The article profiles Weber and three other 2026 recruits, highlighting their positions, accomplishments, and how Cyclones coach Matt Fannon expects them to strengthen the team over the next four years.
