City Of Carmel: Duke Energy Project Will Result In The Closure Of Main Street Beginning March 1

This overall transmission line project began in mid-July of 2021 and is anticipated to be completed in May of 2022.

CARMEL, IN – Duke Energy’s ongoing project to bury transmission lines will result in the closure of Main Street at Veterans Way for up to a month beginning March 1. The utility project calls for the burial of lines under and then across Main Street where Muldoon’s and the Pint Room are located.

Main Street will remain open for parking, but there will be no vehicular through-traffic. Pedestrian access via sidewalks and crosswalks will remain open. Crosswalk locations may be adjusted throughout construction for pedestrian safety.

This overall transmission line project began in mid-July of 2021 and is anticipated to be completed in May of 2022. It involves the burial of Duke transmission lines and water main upgrades along Veterans Way from Elm Street to Main Street. During all phases of work, access to properties and businesses have been and will continue to be maintained in the region.

Detours will be posted. The main detour includes 4th Avenue SW, West Elm Street and South Range Line Road for east-west traffic. See map for more details.
