CARMEL, IN, August 5, 2021 – Unify Carmel, a grassroots movement united to protect and advance children's education, said that several of their supporters read sexually explicit material during the Carmel Clay Schools ("CCS") board meeting on July 26, 2021, as part of their effort to draw attention to the disturbing content in local schools. The outraged mothers and grandmothers discovered the books in the CCS online card catalog.

Books tagged as "teenage sex instruction" are available to students in middle and high school libraries. Books tagged "transgender" are available in elementary schools to students as young as kindergarten. Research is showing the list of lewd books in CCS libraries is extensive. Parents want to know what their children are being exposed to without their knowledge or permission.

"There is a global campaign to promote sexualized material to grade school children, heralded by the UN and championed by Planned Parenthood," one parent stated during the meeting. "This campaign began slowly, and while building steam, the pandemic hit, and parents became aware when children were studying at home."

"It took a lot of courage for these women to read the explicit passages publicly, and everybody was incredibly uncomfortable," said Alvin Lui, co-founder of Unify Carmel and a concerned parent. "The superintendent said he was not aware of these books, and they are not on the rolls. In response, parents are demanding a physical book audit of all books accessible by children. Then, how will the board and superintendent ensure books of this nature are removed and not get back into our schools?"

As a grandmother left the meeting, she said, "We are emotionally and physically exhausted, but it was worth the effort to provide public awareness and find solutions. If these books are accessible in Carmel, Indiana school libraries, they could be accessible in any school library."

NOTE - To promote public awareness, Unify Carmel has made available the readings from the CCS board meeting, which can be accessed on Unify Carmel’s YouTube channel HERE (WARNING, content is explicit). At time of posting, the CCS district had not made available the recorded meeting, as typical for all other school board meetings.
