1. Carmel fire department's new shift schedule aims to improve health (youarecurrent.com) — Carmel firefighters will test a new 48-hours-on, 96-hours-off schedule starting July 2026, a change aimed at improving sleep, health, and family time without increasing city costs. The department is also upgrading sleep conditions with a targeted alert system and individual dorm rooms, and will track health data during a yearlong trial before deciding whether to make the schedule permanent.
   

2. Carmel launches pursuit alerts months after high-speed chase killed innocent father (fox59.com) — Carmel police are adding a “Pursuit Alert” system to most patrol cars, sending Waze notifications to nearby drivers when officers are responding to emergencies. The move follows a deadly high-speed pursuit that began in Carmel and ended with a fatal crash in Indianapolis, and aims to give motorists extra time to react to approaching emergency vehicles.
   

3. Braun talks business at OneZone luncheon (youarecurrent.com) — Carmel-area businesses heard Gov. Mike Braun outline his priorities at a OneZone Chamber luncheon, emphasizing childcare, preschool and energy costs as key economic issues. He praised Hamilton County’s success while urging business leaders in Carmel and neighboring communities to help drive solutions, particularly around data center energy demands and keeping utility rates low.
   

4. 2026 Mira Awards Finalists Announced (techpoint.org) — Carmel will host the 2026 Mira Awards gala at the Palladium on April 24, with several Carmel-based companies and leaders among the 106 statewide tech finalists. Local standouts include CNO Financial, Syra Health, RADcube, CleanSlate Technology Group, and multiple Carmel entrepreneurs and startups.
   

5. Indiana Football Coaches Association Senior and Junior All-State teams (indystar.com) — Carmel High School’s Drew Pemberton and Drake Coellner have been named to the Indiana Football Coaches Association’s Senior and Junior All-State teams, respectively, spotlighting Greyhound standouts among the state’s best.
