Six Hurt During 30-Car Pile-Up In Carmel

Icy conditions led to multi-car pile-up over White River in Carmel Thursday morning.

CARMEL, IN — Traffic can now move through 96th Street between Hazel Dell Parkway and Allisonville Road over the White River Thursday evening, just hours after the Carmel Fire Department said crews were scene of a pile-up involving multiple vehicles driving in icy road conditions. A Thursday morning report from CFD initially said more than 20 cars were involved.

WRTV later reported according to a Fishers Fire Department spokesperson that as many as 30 cars were involved. Six people had non life-threatening injuries and four were taken to the hospital.

CFD said Carmel Clay Schools has buses at the scene to keep people warm while crews worked to assist and sort out the pile-up.
