Carmel Woman, 28, Killed In Spring Creek Shooting
Carmel police said the suspected shooter, who also died Monday, has been identified as 26-year-old Julio Cesar Virula, from Carmel.
CARMEL, IN — Police said a shooting in the Spring Creek neighborhood that left two dead and one hospitalized Monday stemmed from a domestic situation that took place before the suspected shooter threatened to take his own life. Carmel police said the person who first called 911 said the suspected shooter, identified as 26-year-old Julio Cesar Virula, from Carmel, had a gun. Dispatchers then heard gunshots in the background during that call, police added.
While officers were responding to a home in the 14300 block of Riverrock Court, there were more 911 calls reporting gunshots, police said. When officers got to the home, they found two victims who had been shot. Taylor Leigh Cox, 28, from Carmel, was pronounced dead, and a 66-year-old woman, also from Carmel, was taken to the hospital and later released, police said.
Officers located Virula nearby and found that he still had a gun.
