Woman From India Opens New Kumon Center In North Carmel Area

From India to the U.S., local entrepreneur proves a love for learning and teaching extends beyond borders as she opens Carmel center: More

CARMEL, IN -- A young woman has brought her love for learning and teaching from India to Carmel, Indiana. For seven years, Naazesh Mirza volunteered teaching math and English in schools in India, before moving to the U.S. in 2016, officials at Kumon Math and Reading tell Patch. She knew she wanted to continue working with children, so she started looking into different franchise opportunities. Two years later, Mirza is now the owner and instructor of Kumon Math and Reading Center of Carmel-North.

Kumon Math and Reading Centers are located worldwide, helping students from age 3 through high school build self-learning skills. Mirza's sister is a Kumon Instructor in Indiana and told her to look into this franchise.

Thanks to Mirza, the Kumon Franchisee opened the new center in the Indianapolis area.

“I’m fortunate for the opportunity to continue my passion for helping to develop strong, confident individuals,” said Mirza, owner and instructor of Kumon Math and Reading Center of Carmel-North, in a release sent to Patch. “I love the discipline that the Kumon Program instills in children. I look forward to providing the highest quality of education, while helping the children become confident, self-starters.”

There are 20 Kumon Math and Reading Centers in Indiana, including 10 in the Indianapolis area. Mirza's new Carmel-North location is part of Kumon's 2018 expansion plan of welcoming 100 new franchisees across the U.S.

The Kumon Method empowers self-learning and is designed to advance math and reading skills while fostering a love for learning. It goes beyond traditional tutoring by actively developing critical thinking skills as children progress independently and learn to build confidence through a carefully crafted curriculum.

Kumon Franchisees (like Mirza) must have a four-year college degree, be proficient in math and reading, have investment capital of $70,000 and a net worth of at least $150,000. Founded in 1958, Kumon celebrates its 60th year serving children worldwide, with over four million students enrolled in nearly 25,000 learning centers in 50 countries and regions.
