Evansville Democrats to select new Fourth Ward councilor next month (courierpress.com) — Evansville Democrats will hold a Jan. 10 caucus to choose a new Fourth Ward city councilor after Tanisha Carothers resigned amid residency-related court challenges. Precinct committee members will make the decision, and interested Democrats must submit a notarized CEB-5 form to party chair Cheryl Schultz by the morning of Jan. 7, 2026. 
2. Kwanzaa celebrations begin at Evansville's African American Museum (14news.com) — Kwanzaa celebrations are underway at Evansville’s African American Museum, where residents gathered to honor Umoja, the first principle focused on unity. Community leaders are using the seven-day festival to teach how Kwanzaa’s values can uplift local neighborhoods and bring people of all backgrounds together. Multiple organizations will host events throughout the week, and everyone is invited to participate.
3. Indiana CEO says $400K lobster shipment hijacked en route to Costco locations (local12.com) — An Evansville-based logistics company says a $400,000 shipment of lobsters disappeared after leaving a Massachusetts facility, and the loss is big enough to affect local hiring and employee bonuses. Federal investigators are looking into what the CEO believes is part of a wider cargo theft ring that’s driving up costs for businesses and consumers nationwide.
4.
