Cold Dog Gets Pizza, Warmth Thanks To IMPD Officers, Shelter
IMPD officer found dog shivering at corner of E. 10th St and Lasalle St.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Two Indianapolis police officers spent some time — and their lunch — with a furry friend they found wandering in the cold Thursday at the corner of E. 10th Street and E. LaSalle Street. According to IMPD East District, Officer Stacy Riojas found the pup looking hungry and shivering, and neighbors said the dog had been running around all day. They also told Officer Riojas they had never seen it, as it appears the dog was abandoned.
The dog got some lunch and care thanks to Officer Riojas and her partner, Officer Roman Williams-Ervin. IMPD said Officer Riojas put a leash on the dog to keep him out of traffic and got him some treats from her trunk, before the other officer arrived and shared a slice of pizza from his lunch with the cold dog.
The dog is now warm and was able to eat more after the officers contacted Indianapolis Animal Care Services, where he now resides.
