  2. In case you missed it, Lafayette, West Lafayette, and Tippecanoe County have collaborated on the Greater Lafayette Climate Action Plan to address climate change and its local impact. The plan, developed over two years with scientific data and public input, identifies current and projected climate challenges while emphasizing the need for sustainable actions. The three entities pooled resources, engaged community members, and sought input from experts to construct the plan, which encourages participation from individuals, industries, schools, government, and churches to create a more sustainable future. 3. The Indiana Veterans' Home in nearby West Lafayette held a Memorial Day ceremony to honor fallen heroes and emphasize the significance of remembrance over celebration. Tim Hilton, a Vietnam war veteran and former President of the Tippecanoe County Veterans' Council, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of educating younger generations about the holiday and expressing appreciation for living veterans. Hilton stressed the essence of Memorial Day as a time to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice while ensuring that the service of living veterans is not forgotten. (WLFI News)

From my notebook:

  • The Lafayette Parks & Recreation Department is seeking feedback from the community to improve its services and develop a five-year master plan. They have provided a short survey for residents to share their comments, concerns, and recommendations. By participating in the survey, community members can contribute to shaping the future of the parks and ensuring better service for the entire community. (Lafayette Parks and Recreation via Facebook)
  • Looking for a summer camp for the kids? The YMCA Leaders in Training (L.I.T.) is a comprehensive childcare program running from Monday to Friday this summer, catering to children aged ten to fifteen. The program aims to cultivate leadership skills, boost self-esteem, and instill important values in youth. Through workshops, community involvement, and the opportunity to form lasting friendships, participants will develop a strong sense of leadership, identity, and responsibility. (Lafayette YMCA)
  • Why did the appetizers start a band? Because they wanted to create some food harmony and make everyone 'snack' to the beat! Check out this list where you can find the best appetizers in and around Lafayette. (Visit Lafayette-West Lafayette via Facebook)
