• Lafayette Historic Preservation OKs city property for historic protection (jconline.com) — Lafayette is moving to give City Hall and the Long Center formal protection by adding them to local historic districts, with final approval now headed to the City Council in early January. If adopted, the change would safeguard the buildings’ exteriors from demolition or major alterations while leaving interiors untouched, signaling the city’s commitment to follow the same preservation rules as private owners.

• Tippecanoe prosecutors: Jail inmate injures 2 officers during fight (jconline.com) — A Lafayette man jailed on a warrant is now accused of violently struggling with Tippecanoe County Jail officers, leaving at least one officer with a fractured elbow. Prosecutors say the incident began when officers brought breakfast to his cell and escalated into a fight that led to multiple felony charges and his continued incarceration without bond.

• Lafayette's CityBus to raise prices for 2026, with some fares doubling (jconline.com) — CityBus riders in Lafayette should prepare for higher fares in 2026, with brief and single-day passes doubling and monthly and semester passes jumping sharply. The increases follow a budget shortfall after losing Purdue’s campus contract, though Purdue will again subsidize part of students’ semester passes and CityBus is adding a new six-month pass option.
