  1. Unhealthy air quality in the area moved the Lafayette Citizens Band concert indoors on Thursday evening. The band was supposed to perform outside at Columbian Park. For the safety of the musicians and audience members, the concert was held at McCutcheon High School's indoor auditorium. Some musicians in the band have asthma and there was concern for older audience members. The air quality alert is in effect until Saturday at 12:00 a.m. (Subscription: Journal & Courier)
  2. A Lafayette resident received the Citizen/Hero Award from the Joe Tiller Chapter of Northwest Indiana, National Football Foundation. Nick Bostic was honored for bravely running into a house fire and rescuing five people including a young child. Bostic noticed the fire while driving around midnight on the night of Jul. 11, 2022. He stopped the car and rushed into the house to rescue people inside. The award traditionally is given to a high school, college, or professional athlete, but the organization wanted to honor Bostic for being a civic hero. (Subscription: Journal & Courier)
  3. The Lafayette Aviators summer collegiate baseball team will have their first baseball cards for sale at their third annual street fest on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Players will receive 25 percent on the sale of the cards. The cards will be available Saturday at Loeb Stadium and on the NOCAP sports website. The Aviators take on Normal in a game following the fest at 7:00 p.m. (The Exponent)
