  1. Riehle Plaza in Lafayette is set to host a star-studded Fourth of July Concert featuring local bands and food trucks starting at 5 p.m. The event aims to honor America and its freedom fighters, with City Clerk Cindy Murray urging community participation. The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display over the Wabash River at 10 p.m., sponsored by local organizations and authorities. (City of Lafayette)
  2. In the early hours of Friday morning, residents near 14th and Alabama streets in Lafayette reported a drive-by shooting incident to the police. Officers who responded to the scene discovered several shell casings, but no property damage or injuries have been reported as of Friday morning. Lafayette police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact them at 765-807-1200 or call the We Tip Hotline at 800-782-7463. (Subscription: Journal and Courier)
  3. The South All-Stars clinched victory in the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association North/South All-Star Series at Lafayette's Loeb Stadium. BHS alumnus Charlie Schebler stood out with commendable plays for the South, including scoring crucial runs. Avon's Nate Simpson earned the series MVP title, with Chance Bentley of Connersville also representing the South. (Yahoo! Sports)
