Here are the top four stories today in Lafayette:
- Thanks to a $250,000 grant from The Scheumann Foundation, Inc., CAT Park will get an ADA-accessible restroom and concessions building. The additions will mark a new phase for the All-Inclusive Sports Field at CAT Park, which provides a space for individuals with all levels of physical abilities to participate. (Journal & Courier)
- Purdue signed its third semiconductor agreement this month, partnering with Micron, Tokyo Electron, and other United States and Japan-based educational institutions to establish the “UPWARDS Network” for workforce advancement and research and development in semiconductors. This makes Purdue the only U.S. university with bilateral partnerships in semiconductors with Europe, India, and Japan. (Purdue University)
- On or after Jun. 5, County Road 725 North in West Lafayette will close over I-65, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation. The closure is expected to last through the end of August for a bridge repair, with a detour following County Road 50 West to County Road 600 North, to State Road 43 and back. (WLFI)
- Lafayette's first Art in the Park event of the season will take place soon on Tuesday, Jun. 6. The dance night taking place at Columbian Park will feature performances from local dance studios, shopping from local artists, food trucks, crafts, and more. - The Columbian Park Zoo will open its Butterfly Garden Party Exhibit for the season this Saturday, May 27. The outdoor exhibit home to a variety of North American butterfly species will remain open through Labor Day. (Columbian Park Zoo via Facebook)
- The Lafayette Police Department will host a R.A.D. Self-Defense Class for Women Jun. 24-25. The program features realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women, and is taught by nationally certified R.A.D. Instructors. Register online for the class here.
