  1. Former Capitol Police investigator Robert Milton Hodson pleaded guilty to aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a car wreck that caused the deaths of two individuals in Christian County. Hodson, who initially pleaded not guilty, will be sentenced on Aug. 21 and could face a maximum of 20 years in prison. The incident occurred on Apr. 8, 2021, when Hodson's vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a car driven by Haley Anne Shoot, resulting in her and another passenger's death. 2. The Greater Lafayette Honor Flight organized a motorcycle ride as one of its main fundraising events. Starting at 11:15 a.m., veterans and community members rode their motorcycles around town to show support for the cause. The event fostered camaraderie among veterans and community members and aimed to give back to the veterans who have sacrificed for the country's freedoms. The proceeds from the event will be used for the next Honor Flight. (WLFI 18)
  3. During a meeting, Purdue University's Board of Trustees approved several measures, including a continuation of the tuition freeze for the West Lafayette campus for the next two years. The approved budget for the 2024 fiscal year shows revenues exceeding expenditures, with investments focused on the new business school, enrollment growth, and Purdue online. Additionally, Bernie Engel was selected as the new Glenn W. Sample Dean of Agriculture, and plans were made to rehabilitate a runway at the Purdue University Airport, supported by a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration. (Inside Indiana Business)
