- A homeless man has been arrested following a stabbing incident in Lafayette on Saturday. Bradley Beene, 34, faces two charges after stabbing an individual in the forehead with an Exacto knife at an apartment on South Ninth Street. Prosecutors have accused Beene of being a Habitual Offender due to prior convictions. (WLFI)
- At Monday's Tippecanoe County Commissioner meeting, a developer withdrew plans for a housing development in the South River Road area after months of resident push-back. Trinitas Development, LLC was aiming to build high-density, multi-family housing geared towards students on a 22-acre plot just south of the Perdue University airport. At the Jun. 5 meeting, residents once again crowded the room to testify against the proposed development, but Trinitas ultimately withdrew their petition for rezoning after the council denied a request to delay the vote until Jun. 19. Resident concerns largely centered around the lack of bicycle lanes and street lights, along with the high-speed traffic in the area that students would have to navigate to get to Perdue's campus. - In nearby West Lafayette, police are investigating after a pedestrian was killed by a passing vehicle. The incident occurred on Wednesday just before 4:45 a.m. on Sagamore Parkway West. Police were responding to calls about a person reportedly running into oncoming traffic, but while they were searching, learned that the individual had been struck. The driver involved in the incident was uninjured and agreed to a voluntary blood draw, although investigators do not believe the driver was under the influence at the time of the incident. The victim's identity has not been released, and the investigation remains open. (Fox 59)
