• Getting ready for Davenport's trap-neuter-release changes with a workshop (wqad.com) — Davenport residents could soon see big changes in how the city handles outdoor and feral cats, as City Council prepares to vote on an animal control ordinance that would support trap-neuter-release efforts. Local groups like Cats in Action and the Humane Society of Scott County are already gearing up with workshops and expanded sterilization plans, aiming to humanely shrink the city’s outdoor cat population.
   

• Davenport woman arrested, accused of taking SUV from Walmart (ourquadcities.com) — A Davenport woman is jailed on a $10,000 secured bond after police say she took someone else’s SUV from the Walmart on West Kimberly Road in Davenport. Officers, including an off-duty Davenport officer at the store, used the vehicle’s tracking to find it and the suspect in Bettendorf, where she was arrested on a first-degree theft charge.
   

• Davenport Schools plan major preschool expansion starting with Hoover (wqad.com) — Davenport parents of young children may soon have many more preschool options, as the school district studies a plan to move Children’s Village Hoover into the JB Young Opportunity Center and add classrooms at several elementary schools. If approved, the expansion could boost capacity to about 700 preschoolers, serving roughly 80% of incoming kindergarten students across the city.
