• Friendly House receives grant from Variety – the Children's Charity of Iowa (ourquadcities.com) — A Davenport-based nonprofit, Friendly House, has received a $5,750 grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa to upgrade its learning space for local kids. The funding will add a smartboard, smart TV, computers, and desks, transforming a basic computer lab into a modern Educational Learning and Resource Room that supports preschool, daycare, and after-school programs for Davenport children and families.
   

• Rock Island man sentenced to prison on machine gun charges (kwqc.com) — A federal court in Davenport has sentenced a 28-year-old Rock Island man to four years in prison for illegally possessing a machine gun conversion device, often called a “switch.” Authorities say he’ll also serve two years of supervised release and remains barred from owning guns or ammunition because of a prior felony conviction.
   

• River Bend Food Bank to host 'Women Fighting Hunger' event in March (kwqc.com) — River Bend Food Bank is inviting Quad Cities residents to its annual Women Fighting Hunger fundraiser on March 26 at Rhythm City Casino, supporting its Davenport-based mission to end local food insecurity. Headlined by former Iowa women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder, the evening includes cocktails, dinner, and a program, with tickets on sale now and expected to sell out quickly.
