Iowa City Parking Temporarily Banned On Parts Of Summit 500 Block Of Dubuque For Storm Debris Removal

Tow warning signs have been posted on two City streets so residents can remove their cars to facilitate cleanup of storm debris on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020.

The two streets scheduled for storm debris cleanup with temporarily prohibited parking are:

• Summit Street from Washington Street to Burlington Street
• The 500 block of Dubuque Street from Harrison Street to Prentiss Street

Only cars parked in front of debris will be removed.

Cars should be removed from streets before 7 a.m. to allow crews to completely clear the area of collected storm debris. Cars that are found parked on the street in front of storm debris during this time will be subject to towing. It is anticipated that regular on street parking will resume at 5 p.m. the same day.

The temporary ban of on street parking is required for public safety, staff safety, and to speed the debris removal process.

Hooded meters on Court Street

On-street parking will also be temporarily unavailable on Court Street, between Capitol and Madison streets Thursday morning as crews work in that area. Hooded meters mean no parking is allowed.
