LWVJC to host Legislative Forum on March 26

The League of Women Voters of Johnson County will host a virtual Legislative Forum on Saturday, March 26, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The League of Women Voters of Johnson County will host a virtual Legislative Forum on Saturday, March 26, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The public can register for the Zoom Legislative Forum in advance at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYkfuGsrj8pEtPiXpFpTvIDSI62sECmbwmK

Those who wish to pose a question to legislators must register for the forum. After registering, participants will receive an email containing information to join the forum. Registration is limited to 100 participants.

The League’s Legislative Forums provide opportunities for dialogue between the legislators and constituents in Johnson County. Legislators present information about issues they are working on, as well as summaries of critical matters before their respective chambers. Sens. Joe Bolkcom, Kevin Kinney and Zach Wahls, and Reps. Christina Bohannan, David Jacoby, Bob Kaufmann, Mary Mascher and Amy Nielsen have been invited to participate.

This forum is co-hosted by social justice organizations including ACLU of Iowa, the Center for Worker Justice, Iowa Shares, Johnson County Affordable Housing Coalition, Johnson County Interfaith Coalition, and LULAC Council 308. Representatives of these organizations will ask the first questions of lawmakers in attendance.

The forum will be moderated by LWVJC Board member Dhuha Tawil; LWVJC member Janet Wahl will serve as timekeeper.

Iowa City's City Channel 4 will live stream the Legislative Forums on City Channel 4 YouTube channel, the League’s website, lwvjc.org, and Facebook page. Rebroadcasts of the forums will be offered on City Channel 4 on Mediacom cable, as well as on their website at citychannel4.com. Check their website for program schedules.
