Johnson County residents living in unincorporated areas of the county are encouraged to sign up for the Pocket Prairie Program. The program provides participants with free pollinator plants and instructions to create a 10-by-10-foot pocket prairie in their landscape. The program improves soil health and provides habitat for pollinators — over 80% of all flowering plants and three-quarters of crops that feed humans rely on animal pollinators.
