Overland Park is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Overland Park has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.

A few things to know:

  • Overland Park is home to the Johnson County Museum, which tells the story of the region's rich history through interactive exhibits and artifacts. Visitors can learn about everything from the area's Native American roots to its role in the Civil War.
  • If you're a fan of outdoor recreation, be sure to check out the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. The 300-acre park features beautiful gardens, hiking trails and a nature center.
  • Overland Park is home to the Museum at Prairiefire, which features exhibits on science, nature and culture. The museum also houses a state-of-the-art planetarium that offers shows on astronomy and other related topics.
  • The Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead is a great destination for families with young children. The farmstead features a petting zoo, pony rides and even a fishing pond, as well as educational exhibits on farm life.
  • Overland Park is a foodie's paradise, with a wide variety of restaurants and cuisines to choose from. Local favorites include J. Alexander’s, known for its wood-fired entrees, and Jack Stack Barbecue.
