Children, 13 And 5, Killed By Mother In Lexington Stabbing: Reports
The children were remembered Tuesday by their school community, according to media reports, while their mother was charged with murder.
LEXINGTON, KY — Two children were killed in a “stabbing/cutting” Monday night in Lexington, and their mother was charged with murder, according to police and media reports.
Officers responded about 7:20 p.m. to the 400 block of Rogers Road, where they found three injured people, according to police. Two victims, ages 13 and 5, died at a local hospital, and authorities are characterizing the incident as a double homicide, police said.
Nikki James, 43, was charged with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Deon and Skyler Williams, according to the Lexington Herald Leader, which reported that James was in custody and additional charges were pending.

Deon was a student at Winburn Middle School, and Skyler attended Mary Todd Elementary School, the Herald Leader reported.
Winburn Principal Mike Hale said in a message to families that Deon had “a beautiful smile and contagious laugh,” according to the Herald Leader. Deon liked to write and draw, and was involved in the school’s Saturday comic workshops, the Herald Leader reported.

Skyler was an independent child who also enjoyed drawing, according to the Herald Leader, which noted that grief counselors were being made available at both schools.
