Lexington looks to add Aerial Public Safety program to help police and firefighters (wkyt.com) — Lexington officials are proposing an Aerial Public Safety Support program that would station drones around the city to give police and firefighters real-time video during emergencies. The plan, which excludes random surveillance, facial recognition, and weapons, will go before a city committee in February 2026, with funding sought in the 2027 budget and public meetings planned to explain how it will work.

Lexington Police investigating assault on Daniel Court (wtvq.com) — Lexington Police are investigating an assault on Daniel Court after a man was found with a non-life-threatening injury Wednesday afternoon; doctors later confirmed it was not from a gunshot. Lexington police receive 2,000 anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers program this year (wkyt.com) — Lexington residents are turning to the Bluegrass Crime Stoppers program in record numbers, with 2,000 anonymous tips helping police tackle everything from reckless driving to homicides this year. Detective Kristyn Klingshirn stresses that the system is truly anonymous, has already led to dozens of arrests, and even offers cash rewards for information that helps solve serious crimes.
   

4. Building magic at UK (uky.edu) — A University of Kentucky engineering student in Lexington is graduating this Friday and heading straight into a dream job with Walt Disney Imagineering. His story highlights how overcoming childhood cancer, hands-on UK projects, and strong mentoring shaped his path. December commencement ceremonies will be held at Rupp Arena and livestreamed for families and friends.
   

5. Former UK football player says company failed to address racial targeting claims (lex18.com) — A former UK football player living in central Kentucky says he’s still suffering severe emotional fallout after an incident he describes as racial targeting at his workplace, Southeastern Freight Lines. Speaking from Lexington, he and his attorneys allege a supervisor locked him in a hot trailer, that the company failed to properly discipline those involved, and that he’s now pursuing legal action to seek accountability.
