Ex-Judge Gets Prison For Taking Bribes In $600M Social Security Fraud Case
David Daugherty pleaded guilty to accepting more than $600,000 in bribes in cases involving clients of Kentucky lawyer and outlaw Eric Conn.

LEXINGTON, KY — A former administrative law judge was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to accepting more than $600,000 in bribes in cases involving clients of Kentucky lawyer and outlaw Eric Conn in a $600 million Social Security fraud case.
David Daugherty, 81, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, pleaded guilty in May and was sentenced Friday.
Eric Conn — currently a fugitive who was sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison —represented thousands in eastern Kentucky in Social Security cases. Daugherty heard their appeals in Huntington, West Virginia.

Conn pleaded guilty to submitting false information to Social Security and making unlawful payments to Daugherty. Then, he cut off his electronic monitor and disappeared.
