Parents push for timelines as FCPS temporarily combines STEM school sites (spectrumnews1.com) — Lexington families are reacting to Fayette County Public Schools’ decision to temporarily house the all-boys GWC STEM Academy inside the new Rise STEM Academy for Girls building, which opens next year. Parents are pressing district leaders for clear timelines, funding details, and assurances that each school’s identity and promised facilities will be preserved as FCPS pauses upgrades at GWC while pursuing a new building.
   

2. Central Kentucky organizations serve Christmas meals to homeless community (lex18.com) — Lexington Rescue Mission teamed up with the Jessamine County Homeless Coalition this week to serve more than 1,000 Christmas meals to people experiencing homelessness and neighbors in need. Leaders say record demand shows how many Central Kentuckians are struggling, but also how holiday gatherings can reduce stigma, build community, and teach kids the value of service.

Best of 2025: Miss Kentucky Ariana Rodriguez (lex18.com) — From right here in Lexington, Miss Kentucky Ariana Rodriguez is being celebrated for making Miss America history as the first finalist to come from the foster care system. Now a University of Kentucky student, she’s using her Lucky Ones Foundation and pageant platform to support kids in foster care and share a message of resilience across the state.
   

4. Lexington man accused of intimidating police while on bond (fox56news.com) — A Lexington teenager is facing new charges after allegedly confronting a police officer connected to an earlier case, then fleeing and crashing while reportedly driving under the influence. The incident happened early Dec. 20 on Tates Creek Road, and he’s now being held in Fayette County Detention Center on a higher bond with an arraignment set for Dec. 22.
