Louisville Shooting: Activist Quintez Brown Pleads Not Guilty

The activist is charged with attempted murder and accused of shooting at Louisville mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg.

LOUISVILLE, KY — Louisville activist and Metro Council candidate Quintez Brown pleaded not guilty to an attempted murder charge Tuesday, according to a report from the Courier Journal.

His bail was set for $100,000 at a hearing Tuesday morning, according to the report.

Brown, 21, was charged Monday in connection with a shooting that targeted Louisville mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg.

Brown is accused of walking into Greenberg's campaign office at Butchtown Market on Story Avenue and firing a shot at him, Louisville Metro Police Department announced Monday night. He also is charged with four counts of wanton endangerment.

Brown was arrested Monday afternoon by Louisville police, but a motive is still being investigated, Louisville Metro Police Chief Erika Shields told reporters.

Brown is running for a Louisville Metro Council seat in District 5 and is an active participant in protests against police brutality in the city. He has been involved in protests and demonstrations with Black Lives Matter Louisville.

Brown also went missing for 11 days in June 2021.

Brown went to the University of Louisville, and he was a former intern at the Courier-Journal and frequent contributor to the newspaper's opinion section.

No one was injured in the shooting, but a piece of Greenberg's clothing was hit by a bullet, police said.

Greenberg described the shooting as a "surreal" experience in a tweet Monday and told reporters he and his team were "blessed" to not suffer any injuries in the incident.
