Franklin Pest Solutions is a Proud PestVets Company
Franklin Pest Solutions is Dedicated to Helping Veterans in the Pest Control Industry
Louisville, KY (September 27, 2024) Franklin Pest Solutions in Louisville is devoted to helping Veterans and would welcome hiring another Veteran for an open pest technician position. Branch manager Tom Snyder, a U.S. Navy Veteran, says the pest control industry is great for Veterans. He’s been in the pest control industry for 32 years. “It’s a great trade for young Veterans to get into after getting out of the military, especially for those who went straight into service from high school,” he said. “Veterans are very disciplined, and the regimentation is great for our business because – they get to work on time and are sometimes even early.”
Franklin and sister company Rose Pest Solutions have a long and storied history with the military, having been founded by Solomon Rose who was commissioned by the U.S. Army during the Civil War to keep soldiers in tent camps protected from rats and lice. That means that U.S. President Abraham Lincoln was their first client.
Centuries later, Franklin has hired many Veterans and plans to continue that tradition. “There is a big Veteran presence in Louisville because of nearby Fort Knox and the Louisville VA Medical Center expected to be completed in 2026,” Snyder, said.

“We provide specialized training for a career path in public health with no experience required, taking vets under our wings to develop skills with opportunities for advancement and leadership within our historical business,” he said.
Franklin and Rose are going through a tremendous growth spurt in both revenue and people. The family-owned pest control company has nearly doubled its number of employees in the last seven years from 100 people to186 today.

Helping vets comes naturally to Franklin and Rose legendary entomologist Dr. Stanton E. Cope, also affectionately known as Mosquito Man. Cope is director of technical services for Franklin and Rose. He served as medical entomologist in the U.S. Navy for more than 23 years, ultimately serving as director of the Armed Forces Pest Management Board and director of pest management in Washington D.C. where he had oversight of all aspects of pest management for the Department of Defense.
“One of the wonderful charitable things our company does is support PestVets,” Cope said. “PestVets is dedicated to helping Veterans get started in the pest control industry and is a great way for those leaving military service to get started and succeed in civilian jobs within our industry.”
Just before Veterans Day, the annual PestWorld conference takes place. In conjunction with PestWorld, PestVets does a Day of Service event.
“This year at PestWorld, the annual meeting of the pest management industry, PestVet volunteers and Council members will be creating 100 customized blankets that will be donated to Veterans in the Denver area,” Cope said. “Also, PestVets will be selling special teddy bears to raise money for one of the local facilities that serve Veterans. In the past, we’ve had attendees write letters to deployed personnel and have stuffed specialized bears for the children of deployed personnel, for example.”
The bottom line is that Franklin loves vets and is dedicated to helping vets in the Louisville area. “It’s a great career that is so interesting. It’s kind of like being involved in science mysteries – trying to find out not only what pest is the culprit and what the source is but then what to do to eradicate it and make people happy and safe in their environments,” Synder said. “In the end, it’s all about keeping environments safe, protecting public health and making people happy.”
