Kentucky Derby 2025: Meet Horses In The 151st Run For The Roses
Thoroughbreds Journalism and Sandman are top of the pack for the 151st Kentucky Derby. Check out the horses ahead of the race.

LOUISVILLE, KY-- The most award-winning horses in the racing world will run in the first race in the Triple Crown series Saturday at Churchill Downs racetrack in Louisville for the 151st Kentucky Derby. Twenty thoroughbreds will pack the field in the annual Run for the Roses.
The mile and a quarter race will only take these athletic horses and jockeys less than two minutes to lap the track. Journalism and Sandman have the best odds and are favored to win the derby's $5 million purse. We'll have to wait and see if they have what it takes to become a Triple Crown Winner. The last horse to complete the Triple Crown feat was Justify in 2018.
Trainer Bob Baffert will be back at the Kentucky Derby for the first time in four years. Baffert served his punishment for Medina Spirit’s failed drug test back in 2021. He’s won the derby a record-tying six times at Churchill Downs and is looking for his seventh.
