Social media connects Kentucky veterans

by David Willis Jr. (Louisville, KY)

Today, as we commemorate Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we pause to honor our nation's military veterans and reflect upon their many sacrifices to secure the opportunities we all enjoy as Americans.

As a veteran myself, I know firsthand that the veteran community needs our support now more than ever. And one great way to give back to many people all at once is through social media.

I contribute to a Facebook group called Louisville Area Veterans Networking, where veteran business owners can connect online. The group is a place not only to connect but also to share mental health services and other valuable resources.

Another way I use social media is by live streaming my podcast on my Facebook page, HomeFront Sitrep, where local veterans discuss issues that affect our community.

I encourage everyone to support Kentucky's many veteran-owned small businesses this holiday season and to take a moment to thank those who have served.
