Shreve Memorial Library branches throughout Caddo Parish are hosting holiday programs to engage those 18 years to 99 years young. Adults are invited to catch the holiday spirit by participating in crafts, DIY projects, decorating, painting, cooking and games. All programs are free and open to the public. Registration, face masks, and social distancing are required.

Adults are encouraged to make Christmas ornaments at the Gilliam, Hamilton/South Caddo and Hollywood/Union Avenue Branches. Both the Gilliam and Hamilton/South Caddo Branches will host programs encouraging creativity and imagination through painting wood slices to create painted wooden ornaments. The programs will take place on Monday, December 13 at the Gilliam Branch, located at 12797 Main Street in Gilliam, and on Tuesday, December 14 at the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch, located at 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Both programs start at 2:00 p.m.
On Thursday, December 16, Adults will make felt ornaments at the Hollywood/ Union Avenue Branch. Participants will learn basic embroidery skills and make their own felt Christmas ornaments. The program takes place at 11:00 a.m., in the meeting room at the branch, at 2105 Hollywood Avenue.

A DIY project on how to make Christmas bow wreaths also takes place on Thursday, December 16 at the David Raines Branch. Adults will join the festivities and create custom Christmas bow wreaths to add to their holiday collection. The activity takes place in the meeting room at the David Raines Branch, located at 2855 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, at 11:00 a.m.
On Thursday, December 23, Oil City Branch invites adults to “Take-and-Make” crafts. From 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., adults may pick up a to-go craft to carry home and enjoy. The Oil City Branch is located at 102 Allen Street in Oil City.
Adults are encouraged to come, relax and express their artsy side at paint parties hosted at the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch. Paint parties for adults will take place on Wednesday, December 15 and Tuesday, December 21. On Wednesday, December 15 at 3:00 p.m., participants will draw and paint a Christmas tree. Then on Tuesday, December 21 at 10:00 a.m., adults will paint a fox with a winter background. Both paint parties will take place in the small meeting room at the branch, located at 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.
The fun continues at the North Shreveport and Oil City Branches with fun games and good food. On Thursday, December 16, the North Shreveport Branch invites adults to celebrate the holidays and play a fun game of Christmas BINGO at 10:00 a.m. On Monday, December 20, stop by the Oil City Branch for a holiday recipe swap and get ready for Christmas dinner with new recipes and tips to enhance your holiday cooking. The recipe swap takes place all day at the Oil City Branch from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
