Caddo Parish to hold additional FREE holiday food distribution on December 20 (shreveportbossierjournal.com) — Families in Shreveport and across Caddo Parish can pick up free holiday food this Saturday, December 20, at several neighborhood churches and community sites starting at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Locations include Galilee, Lake Bethlehem, Broadmoor, and more, but officials urge residents to double-check site details because some have changed since November. 
2. Business leaders, students praise Caddo Works internships (ktalnews.com) — Caddo Parish high school students just wrapped up Caddo Works internships with partners like Storer Services, The Highland Center, the Caddo Parish School Board, and the Shreveport Mudbugs, gaining real-world job skills and confidence. Created with the Greater Shreveport Chamber, the program plans to expand each semester and is actively seeking more local business partners.
3. SFD urges fire safety this winter (ktbs.com) — Shreveport fire officials are warning residents to be extra careful with heaters and electrical devices as winter sets in, after responding to more structure fires and far more fire-related deaths than last year. They urge families to keep space heaters at least three feet from anything that can burn and to make sure smoke alarms are working.

Prize Foundation set to host Louisiana Film Prize 2026 kickoff party (ktalnews.com) — A free kickoff party for the 2026 Louisiana Film Prize is coming to downtown Shreveport’s Remington Garage on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Filmmakers, actors, and curious locals can network, enjoy music and food, and learn how to compete for the $50,000 short-film grand prize in Caddo Parish.
5. Traffic changes coming to Jimmie Davis Highway with lane swap and J-turn (ksla.com) — Major traffic changes on Jimmie Davis Highway begin Friday as DOTD shifts vehicles onto newly built lanes near LA 511 on the Bossier side of the Red River, including a new J-turn by Barksdale Boulevard. Officials say the design should improve safety and business access, but some Shreveport-area salon owners worry about congestion and confusion, especially for older drivers.
