Shreve Memorial Library Celebrates Women’s History Month In March

March is Women’s History Month, and Shreve Memorial Library invites everyone to experience the power of history making women with trivia games, movies, storytimes, crafts, music and more. Programs will take place during the month at library branches throughout Caddo Parish. All programs are free and open to the public. Registration may be required.

Women’s History Month at the library kicks off with trivia games, both virtual and in-person, presented by the Broadmoor, Hollywood/Union Avenue, North Caddo and Hosston Branches. The Broadmoor Branch, located at 1212 Captain Shreve Drive, will host a virtual “Women’s History Month Trivia” game online. If you think you know women’s history, then test your knowledge online. Gather your friends and family to compete as a team or compete individually to see whose knowledge reigns supreme. To participate, go to https://bit.ly/3MjOBYn.
The Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch invites patrons to play an interactive “Famous Women Quotes Guessing Game” and view a book display of women authors. Attendees will read famous quotes by women and guess who said which quote. To participate, visit the branch at 2105 Hollywood Avenue.

The North Caddo Branch invites patrons to play the game, “Who Am I?” Participants will guess the names of famous women displayed on a vision board and write as many names as possible. Prizes for participating may be picked up at the circulation desk at the branch located at 615 North Pine Street in Vivian.
On Wednesday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m., the Hosston Branch, located at 15478 Highway 71 in Hosston, holds “Women’s Day Bingo.” Patrons are encouraged to participate in an exciting spring game of Bingo to celebrate Women’s History Month and view an exhibit featuring women who have made history.
More information about history making women will be on display throughout the month at the Mooretown and Gilliam Branches. Everyone is encouraged to come and observe the “Women with a Vision” exhibit at Mooretown Branch between 9:00 a.m. and 5:55 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, and learn about women who have influenced history. A vision board will display information about different women each week. To view the exhibit, visit the branch at 4360 Hollywood Avenue.
Patrons may also view a display of books, photos and information on women who have made history in a Women’s History Month Exhibit at the Gilliam Branch. The exhibit is located in the display area at the front of the branch, located at 12797 Main Street in Gilliam. Viewing hours are on Mondays and Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In addition, movie screenings about women and the roles they play also run throughout the month at several Shreve Memorial Library branches. Movies featuring powerful history-making women are showing throughout the month at the Atkins, Belcher-Wyche, West Shreveport, Rodessa, and North Shreveport Branches. They are as followed:
