On Thursday, the U.S. Naval Academy will be inducting more than 1,200 new members to its ranks for the official start of Plebe Summer.
Incoming plebes, the Class of 2017, will be taken through several stations at the academy for their transformation from civilians into plebes.
Among the stations are uniform issue, medical examinations, hair cuts and learning the proper way to salute.
The day will culminate with the oath of office ceremony Thursday. After the ceremony, plebes will meet with family members one last time until their next visit on Plebe Parent's Weekend, Aug. 8-11.
