ARNOLD, MD — A baseball pitcher for Anne Arundel Community College was recently honored for his impressive month with the Riverhawks.

Jacob McDonald was named the NJCAA Region 20 Division II Baseball Player of the Month for February.

McDonald posted 2 wins and 1 loss en route to a 1.13 ERA across 3 starts last month. He struck out 22 batters in 16 innings, only allowing 2 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks.

The sophomore struck out 5 batters during the season-opening loss at Surry Community College on Feb. 4. He surrendered 1 run on 3 hits and no walks in 4 innings.

The Pasadena native took the mound again for the home opener against Hudson Valley Community College on Feb. 18. McDonald gave up a single hit and 2 walks in 5 scoreless innings. He also struck out a career-high 8 batters.

McDonald topped that strikeout record in his next start on Feb. 26 at the College of Southern Maryland. The righty struck out 9 batters and walked nobody. He gave up 5 hits and 1 run while pitching a complete game of 7 innings.

The Glen Burnie High School graduate shattered his strikeout record again on March 10 while hosting Montgomery College (MD). He struck out 12 batters in 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits and 2 walks.

McDonald touts a 0.87 ERA on the year. He has pitched 31 innings across 6 starts, striking out 12.48 batters and walking 1.74 batters per 9 innings.
